What Are Office Workstation Partitions, and Why Do They Matter in Singapore?
What you are actually buying
A workstation partition is the screen between people, not the wall that creates a new room. It might be a desk-mounted glass divider on the bench, a half-height glass screen on a low aluminium channel, or a full-height glass workstation around a four-person cluster. Sightlines stay. Shoulder-to-shoulder chatter drops. Monitors stop being a public display.
That is a different product from a meeting room glass wall, and different again from a fabric screen on wheels. Fabric and polycarbonate dividers are fine for a week. They stain, they move when a chair hits them, and plenty of Grade A lobbies would rather not see them on a client tour. What people mean by glass workstation partitions in Singapore is a screen that lasts the lease, then comes down without a pile of gypsum in the service lift.
People also say workstation cubicle partition or modular workstation partition. In the workshop those phrases mean the same family of job: a repeatable bay, glass you can specify, and a frame you can extend when the team grows by four. A one-off feature wall at reception is a different drawing.

Why this shows up so often on Singapore floors
Rent does not leave much wasted corridor. A 1,200 sq ft shophouse floor in Bukit Pasoh, or a slim strata unit on Cecil Street, gets dark once you start boxing rooms in plasterboard. Glass lets the window on the Robinson Road side reach the desks beside the pantry.
Noise is the other half. Settlements teams around Raffles Place, sales rows in Paya Lebar Quarter, and engineering benches at Fusionopolis share one habit. One loud call sets off the row. Clear glass will not soundproof a dealing desk. It does stop the visual ping-pong, which is half of why people lose the thread. Where the calls never stop, the build changes. A single pane is the wrong promise.
Humidity shows up in the ironmongery, not the brochure. A track that looks fine in a dry showroom can pit beside a pantry that never quite dries, or under an air-con unit that weeps onto the head channel. We specify aluminium sections, stainless fixings where steam hits, and seals that suit an indoor tropical office. Steel chosen because it looked industrial in a photo is a poor bargain here.
Rules that change the drawing
A desk-height screen that does not touch the ceiling, and does not cross an exit, is simpler than a fire compartment. It is still not furniture you wheel in and forget. Most landlords, and many MCSTs, want landlord fit-out approval before anyone drills a raised floor tile. The pack is usually a layout, a sprinkler note if the glass is tall, insurance, and a work schedule.
If a full-height panel shadows a sprinkler head, the building sends the drawing back. We look for that on site, because the reflected ceiling plan in the lease file is often out of date. Door swing matters too. A leaf that opens into a narrow aisle in an older Orchard tower is a problem even when the glass itself is straight.
People walk into the ends of workstation runs. We use tempered safety glass, commonly 10 mm or 12 mm at these heights, and laminated glass where an acoustic interlayer or a risk from above calls for it. If someone later treats the run as a fire barrier, ordinary tempered glass is the wrong product. That zone needs a tested fire-rated glass partition, and sometimes a Qualified Person. We would rather say that on the survey than after the glass has been cut.
BCA sits behind any alteration that is more than loose furniture. Not every screen needs a full submission, and anyone who promises a BCA compliant glass partition on every job without reading the unit is guessing. Your building manager will say which path applies. What we will not do is turn up at Marina Bay or Jurong without insurance and bizSAFE papers. Those loading bays do not wave unlisted crews through.
What’s Included in Our Office Workstation Partitions Installation ?
A four-desk row in a Tai Seng factory is not a forty-person bench in Asia Square. The list below is the normal workstation scope. Wider glass work, including full rooms, sits on our tempered glass partitions page. If the lease will ask for the unit back, read renovation and reinstatement before you lock a fixing you cannot undo.
Before any glass is ordered
• A site measure: floor fall, ceiling height, sprinkler heads, air-con drops, and the real width once chairs are pushed in.
• A plain layout of desk lines, door swings, and the walkway you still need at half past five, when everyone stands up at once.
• A glass choice matched to the bay: clear, a frosted band, a tint, or an acoustic laminate. The choice follows how people work, not which sample looks best on a table.
• A frame choice. An aluminium framed glass partition you can unbolt later, or a frameless glass partition where the opening is square and a section would look heavy.
• A written quote, and a straight note on whether the building wants drawings before we deliver.
• A word with the desk vendor or the electrician if the benches are not in yet. Glass cut to a furniture plan that later shifts by 80 mm is a costly mistake. If an office fit-out partition crew is already doing the gypsum and the ceiling, we set the glass line with them rather than working over the top.
What we supply and fit
• Tempered glass partition panels, edges finished, in the thickness the height needs. That is what an office glass partition Singapore firm actually needs at desk level. It is not a film stuck onto annealed glass.
• Desk brackets, or a floor track, with packers where a raised-floor tile rocks. A head channel only if the glass is meant to meet the grid.
• A door where the aisle allows one. Swing, with a stop that does not chew the next panel, or a slider where a swing would hit a chair.
• A frosted glass partition finish, or privacy film on the lower half, so screens face the aisle without becoming a show. A logo can sit in that band.
• On phone-heavy rows, an acoustic glass partition or a double glazed glass partition, sealed at the head and the base. A single 10 mm pane is not a soundproof workstation divider. We will not describe it as one.
• A sliding glass partition where the walkway is already tight. We see this often in Ubi, Toa Payoh, and on shophouse upper floors.
• After-hours glass installation when the building only allows work past 6pm or on Saturday. Floors covered, silicone finished, desks usable before the first person sits.
• A walk-through before we leave, and a short note on what to use on the glass and what will haze it.
What is not quietly added to the bill
We do not move live data cabling unless that was quoted. We do not sign a fire strategy. We do not call a drywall wall a glass job. Server rooms, plant rooms, and stairs are the wrong place for a clear panel. If the better answer is gypsum beside the rack and glass where people sit, that is what the survey will say.
Two upgrades get overbought. If the glass must turn opaque when a client sits down, that is a smart glass partition, which is switchable privacy glass. See smart switchable glass. If the bay is really a room with a door and a noise target, start from soundproof glass doors and partitions instead of asking a desk screen to behave like a boardroom.
Who We Are
AM Glass Solution is a Singapore glass contractor working from Bedok Industrial Park East. We supply and install glass for offices, shops, and homes: doors, partitions, shower screens, mirrors, and replacements when a pane breaks. Workstation partitions sit inside that wider trade. The person who measures a bay already knows how glass behaves in a steamy shop and in a dried-out tower.
You are hiring that crew, not a general builder who hands the pane to someone else and vanishes when a joint is out. The business is registered as UEN 202608810K. The workshop is unit #03-2092, not a mail drop. Call +65 8409 1392 or email amglasssolution.sg@gmail.com.
Our Story
Office work grew out of repair jobs and small installations. A cracked shower screen and a crooked desk panel fail for the same reasons: a short measure, the wrong glass, a rush at the end. Offices began asking for the same care on a longer run. Keep the light. Hide the monitors. Work when the building allows noise. That request became this service.
The standard we kept is unglamorous. Measure twice. Specify safety glass. Carry the panel properly. Leave the desks usable the next morning. Planned installation is booked in advance. When a single pane breaks on a Sunday, the repair side of the business is why the phone is still answered. That 24/7 cover is for broken glass, not for starting a new floor at midnight.
Why Choose AM Glass Solution in Singapore?
A pane is easy to buy. The fit is where jobs go wrong. A panel 8 mm short of the ceiling grid. A track on a raised-floor tile that rocks when someone walks past. A concierge who will not take the crate because the paperwork is a photo of a van. We set the job up so those are not surprises on installation morning.

What you can check before you pay a deposit
• bizSAFE Enterprise Level STAR. Commercial buildings ask for it before they issue a permit to work. We carry it for that reason.
• Insurance that covers site work on an occupied floor, not only the drive between jobs.
• HDB-compliant practice on home glass. That is a residential standard. It does not govern a Marina Bay lease, and we will not pretend it does. It does tell you the crew is used to being checked.
• A small promise: if the line, the joint, or the film is not what we agreed, we come back and put it right.
• A workshop you can name. If you searched office partition contractor Singapore and found only a mobile number, ask where the glass is checked before it ships. Ours is checked in Bedok.
Working around people who are still at their desks
Lasers, suction lifters, packers, carpet covers. We do not grind a track in a boardroom at three in the afternoon. Noisy fixing sits inside the building’s allowed window. If the team will move before the lease ends, we prefer a demountable office partition to a joint that can only be cut out. Frameless still has a place, usually a short run facing reception. A three-year Singapore lease often ends in office reinstatement. A frame you can unbolt makes that clause cheaper.
Lines clients use — replace these before go-live
• “They measured the bay at an Anson Road tower on Thursday and fitted the row the next week, after 7pm. The desks were clear in the morning.” — operations lead, Tanjong Pagar
• “We asked for the frost only up to seated eye level. The film line is straight, which the previous fitter did not manage.” — studio manager, one-north
• “Building management wanted the bizSAFE letter the same day. It was already in the submission pack.” — facilities coordinator, Paya Lebar
A practical comparison
Question | Loose screen from a catalogue | A measured glass install |
Will it survive a client tour? | Sometimes. Often it reads as temporary. | Tempered glass, finished edges, a straight line. |
Someone walks into it. | Fabric or thin acrylic. | Safety glass, specified for the height. |
The landlord asks for papers. | Usually none, which becomes the problem. | Insurance and bizSAFE ready to send. |
The lease says reinstate. | Easy to shift, never felt finished. | Demountable frames where you ask for them. |
A panel cracks on Sunday. | You wait until the shop opens. | Glass call-out, because repair is part of the trade. |
Service Areas We Cover
We fit workstation glass across Singapore, not only in the postcodes that look good in a brochure. The van starts in Bedok. Travel is in the quote, so the price does not jump on the day.
If your building is named below, we already know the usual loading-bay habit, the ceiling type, and whether drawings move slowly. If it is not named, ask anyway. Islandwide means the job is welcome. The list is where we are on site often enough to talk about the building, not a fence around the business.
CBD and the downtown core
Downtown work has a rhythm. Towers around Raffles Place usually mean a raised floor, a booked loading slot, and glass going in after the dealing desks empty. Marina Bay Financial Centre and Asia Square add a stricter permit-to-work desk. Shenton Way, Cecil Street, Robinson Road, and Telok Ayer follow that pattern. Tanjong Pagar changes by the street: Guoco Tower and Anson Road one week, a shophouse toward Duxton or Neil Road the next, where the floor falls and the ceiling is already low. Chinatown, Outram, Clarke Quay, City Hall, Bugis, and Beach Road are on the same run.
• office partition Raffles Place — raised floor, a tight loading bay, and work after the dealing row has gone.
• office partition Marina Bay — MBFC and Asia Square. The permit desk is stricter than the glass detail.
• office partition Tanjong Pagar — tower glass one week, a Duxton or Neil Road shophouse the next.
Orchard, Novena, and the city fringe
Orchard and Somerset are often older towers used by brand and media teams: decent glass lines, awkward risers. Novena and Newton lean toward clinics and professional rooms, where a film band matters more than a frameless look. River Valley, Robertson Quay, Bukit Merah, Alexandra, Queenstown, HarbourFront, Tiong Bahru, Lavender, and Kallang are regular stops, not a dotted line on a map we do not drive.
• office partition Orchard — older towers, brand and media floors, risers that are rarely where the drawing says.
• office partition Novena — clinics and professional offices. Privacy film before fashion.
• office partition Bukit Merah — mixed office and light-industrial units, often a tighter aisle.
• office partition Alexandra — Queenstown fringe and Mapletree-side floors, benches plus a few quiet rooms.
• office partition HarbourFront — office floors above retail, delivery times set by the mall, not by us.
The east, which is home ground
The workshop is in Bedok, so Bedok, Eunos, Kembangan, Simei, and Chai Chee are short trips. Paya Lebar might mean Paya Lebar Quarter or the older stock around Paya Lebar Square. Tai Seng, Ubi, MacPherson, and Kaki Bukit are full of flatted factories with a front office and a workshop behind the glass. Changi Business Park, Tampines, and Expo close the eastern loop.
• office partition Bedok — home ground, including the industrial park, Chai Chee, and Eunos.
• office partition Paya Lebar — PLQ towers and the older square. Different ceiling, different landlord pack.
• office partition Tai Seng — flatted factories. Office in front, workshop behind, glass in between.
• office partition Ubi — same pattern, often a sliding door because the aisle is already full.
• office partition Changi Business Park — campus floors, longer walks from the loading dock, book the lift.
• office partition Tampines — regional offices and business-park units out toward Expo.
one-north, the west, and the north
one-north means Fusionopolis, Biopolis, Mediapolis, and the Buona Vista fringe, where benches and phone pods share a floor. Holland Village and Clementi are close. Further west we cover Jurong East, the International Business Park, the Jurong Innovation District, and front offices toward Tuas. North of town: Toa Payoh, Bishan, Ang Mo Kio, and Woodlands. A light-industrial unit with a reception glass line is as normal to us as a CBD bench.
• office partition one-north — research and tech floors. Phone pods beside open benches.
• office partition Jurong East — offices near the regional centre, IBP, and the innovation district.
• office partition Woodlands — northern business buildings and workshops that still need a proper front glass line.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who should you hire for office workstation partitions installation in Singapore?
Ans : Hire a glass contractor who can show safety-glass specifications, insurance, and bizSAFE paperwork, not only a furniture render. AM Glass Solution measures and installs from Bedok, across Singapore. Ask who attends site, whether the glass is tempered, and whether the frame comes out at reinstatement. Vague answers are a reason to keep looking.
What is the glass partition installation cost in Singapore?
Ans : Online prices in Singapore clash because some mean a desk screen and others a double-glazed room, and some mix square feet with square metres. We price after a measure: thickness, frame, film, doors, and after-hours work. The written quote follows that visit. We will not give a flat rate for a floor we have not seen.
How long does a workstation glass installation take?
Ans : A small workstation bay can be fitted in one to two days once the glass is ready. Fabrication often takes about a week after you approve the measure. Landlord approval in Raffles Place or Marina Bay can add one to three weeks. We can work after office hours so the team keeps trading.
Do I need landlord fit-out approval before the glass goes in?
Ans : Most commercial landlords want a fit-out submission before any fixed glass goes in. Drawings, insurance, and a work schedule are the usual pack. If the partition crosses an escape route or a sprinkler line, SCDF or a fire engineer may need to review it. We flag that on the survey, not after the glass arrives.
Is tempered safety glass required for office workstations?
Ans : Yes, when people can walk into the panel. We use tempered glass, and laminated glass where the specification calls for it, so a break crumbles or stays in the interlayer instead of falling in sheets. Thickness follows the height and the span. Ordinary annealed glass is not used on a workstation run.
Can you fit the partitions without closing the office?
Ans : Usually, yes. We protect floors, stage panels off the walkway, and book noisy fixing for early morning or after 6pm. A single row of desk screens rarely needs a shutdown. A full floor of floor-to-ceiling glass in a live CBD office is planned bay by bay, so only one zone is blocked.
Will a glass screen stop noise between desks?
Ans : A single clear panel stops visual distraction more than it stops sound. For phone-heavy teams we specify acoustic laminated glass or a double glazed build, plus seals at the head and the base. That pattern is common on Raffles Place dealing rows and in one-north call pods. Carpet and the ceiling still do part of the work.
Should we choose a frameless glass partition or a framed one?
Ans : Choose a framed aluminium system if you may move the layout before the lease ends. The sections unbolt. Choose frameless if the look matters more than a future shift, and the opening is regular. Shophouses in Tanjong Pagar with uneven floors often suit a frame, because the track can take up the fall.
Can a frosted glass partition or a logo be added for privacy?
Ans : Yes. A frosted film, a frit band, or a company mark on the lower half keeps monitors private and still passes daylight. Full obscure glass is the better choice beside HR and payroll desks. Film can be added later if you are not sure, on day one, how private the bay needs to be.
What happens to the glass at office reinstatement?
Ans : Many Singapore leases ask you to put the unit back. Demountable framed glass comes down cleaner than a hacked gypsum wall. We can remove panels, make good the tracks, and cart the glass away. Tell us the lease end when you order, and we will keep the fixing reversible where the landlord allows it.
A Local Example near Guoco Tower

A 22-person finance support team near Guoco Tower needed to break up one long bench. The Anson Road landlord had already turned down a gypsum proposal because it would have boxed in the only window. Calls from the settlements side were carrying to the reception sofa, which is a poor place to leave a visitor.
We measured after 6.30pm. The spec was 12 mm tempered glass, 1,350 mm high, on a demountable aluminium frame, with the lower 700 mm frosted so monitors faced the aisle and daylight still crossed the floor. Four panels and one return. Nothing fixed to the ceiling, so the sprinkler drawing did not have to change. The install was one Saturday.
On Monday the sofa was quiet enough for a guest, and the window still did its job. The office manager’s summary was plain: people stopped booking outside rooms just to make a phone call. A full-height acoustic room would have been a different quote. We said that before anyone approved the glass. The lower screen was the right spend for that floor.
Book Office Workstation Partitions Installation in Singapore
If the desks are already in, send a few photos and a rough width. If the fit-out has not started, send the plan before the furniture order is locked. We would rather set the glass with the desks than cut around them later.
